Puducherry boosts rain preparedness as heavy downpours are forecasted
Puducherry's administration has increased preparations for heavy rain expected from a weather system in the Bay of Bengal. The government has requested two additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, adding to the two already deployed in the region. Schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal will be closed for two days as a precaution. Authorities are warning fishermen and the public to stay away from the sea, and police are actively monitoring coastal areas. The Indian Coast Guard is enhancing search and rescue operations along the coastline. They have deployed aircraft and patrol vessels to assist in monitoring and responding to any emergencies related to the weather conditions.
