PS5 Linux Developer Quits Modding Scene After Exploit Leak

techpowerup.com

Andy Nguyen, developer of the PS5 Linux project, has announced he is leaving the PS5 modding scene, abandoning planned support for the PS5 Pro. He cited frustration with community changes driven by AI coding tools. Nguyen stated that "slop kiddies" using LLM assistants discovered the last remaining Hypervisor bug in the PS5 Pro and reported it to Sony via its bug bounty program. He had intentionally left the exploit unpatched, hoping it would remain active until after Grand Theft Auto VI's release. The PS5 Linux Loader remains publicly available on GitHub under a GPL 3.0 license, allowing others to continue the work. However, in-progress PS5 Pro support files are not currently included in the repository.
