Protesters demand funds for Paladina-Sedrina road variant in Bergamo
More than 500 people joined a protest in Villa d’Almè on Saturday, led by mayors from Val Brembana and Valle Imagna, demanding the release of funds for the Paladina-Sedrina road variant to complete Bergamo's southern bypass, a project awaited for 30 years. All valley mayors, provincial president Gianfranco Gafforelli, and mountain community leaders Valerio Bianchi and Roberto Facchinetti attended. Protesters carried signs saying "We deserve respect" and "We need a road for the future," citing daily traffic jams and economic losses. The project faces opposition, including from Sorisole mayor Stefano Vivi, who argues it would shift pollution to Petosino and harm the Parco dei Colli. San Pellegrino Terme deputy mayor Vittorio Milesi countered that the opposition is legitimate but should engage through formal channels, noting the infrastructure is a provincial priority.
