Prisoners at HMP Erlestoke sell art online in rehabilitation scheme

A charity-supported art scheme at HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire is helping rehabilitate prisoners by enabling them to create and sell artwork online, with artists receiving 50% of proceeds. The Prison Art Project, run with homeless charity ALABARÉ, provides art packs to inmates, who say creativity boosts mental health and feels "rewarding." Charity staff say the work supports meaningful rehabilitation and better choices. Since the 1960s, over 3,000 prisoners have participated, with 100 current artists across 37 prisons. More than 1,500 pieces await online sale, offering pride and a hidden world view.
