Prisoner attacked in jail identified as double murderer in New Year's Day incident

Urfan Sharif, recently sentenced for his daughter's murder, was attacked in HMP Belmarsh on New Year's Day. He was ambushed by inmates, including Steve Sansom, a double murderer, who used a jagged tuna can lid. Sansom and another inmate allegedly forced Sharif into a cell and slashed him. Sharif sustained cuts to his face and neck but did not need hospital treatment. Both Sharif and his wife received life sentences in December for their roles in their daughter's death. The incident is under investigation by the police.
