Princess Diana once slapped her father, John Spencer, after he revealed his secret marriage to Raine Spencer, according to her brother, Charles Spencer, in his new memoir released September 22. Charles told People Magazine the incident was one of only three times Diana became "physical," calling it "bizarre" and "out of the blue." He said he and Diana opposed the marriage, feeling their father was letting them down, though John "had to follow his heart." John and Raine married on July 14, 1976. Charles also claimed Raine insulted Diana, saying she "couldn't believe that Prince Charles had married someone so stupid," which he suggested "was probably lighting the fuse."
