Priest involved in nun misconduct allegations retires for medical reasons

Reverend Philip G. Johnson has retired for medical reasons, as announced by the Diocese of Raleigh. His retirement took effect on July 31. Johnson was previously investigated for allegedly breaking his vow of chastity with a nun. Bishop Michael Olson of the Fort Worth Diocese accused Johnson of misconduct involving Rev. Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach. The Arlington monastery has denied the allegations and previously sued Olson for theft and defamation, but the case was dismissed. Recently, the nuns from the monastery stated they had been dismissed from the faith. They emphasized that their vows to God remain intact and cannot be revoked.
