This film is expected to be India's first female superhero movie, directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru. Set in Bengal, "Mahakali" will explore themes related to Goddess Kali, featuring a dark-skinned actress in the lead role. The film aims to challenge traditional beauty standards in Indian cinema and will include stunning visuals and a compelling narrative. The movie will be produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal and will be released in multiple languages. The first look poster has been revealed, and the film follows the recent success of Varma's "HanuMan," which was released in Japan.
