Pozzuoli's tent church rises after earthquake damages San Gennaro
A temporary tent church has been erected in Pozzuoli, Italy, to allow religious services to resume at San Gennaro after an earthquake on July 31 rendered the original building unusable. The structure cost 12,000 euros. The tent was assembled with support from firefighters, who moved benches and a statue of Saint Francis outside so the priest could celebrate the saint's liturgical commemoration on October 3. The Diocese funded it through donations and a Rotary Club fundraiser. This tent model will also be used for another church, while other parishes may move activities to schools. A Diocese official stressed the need to secure the entire Campi Flegrei area, including homes, schools, businesses, and community spaces like churches.
