Power connections for 4.25 lakh units established at Maha Kumbh mela in India

Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited is providing electricity connections for 4.25 lakh units at the Maha Kumbh mela. This includes tents, hospitals, and food courts across 4,000 hectares. Currently, over 2.75 lakh connections have been established. A team of 35 officials and 5,000 temporary workers are ensuring power supply using a ring main unit system. Daily power consumption is currently 2 lakh units, expected to exceed 3.33 crore units by the end of the event. The discom has installed extensive power infrastructure, including 182 km of 11kV lines and 50,000 street poles. They have also arranged 85 generators for backup power. The estimated power bill will exceed Rs 30 crore.
