Postecoglou convinces Mason Melia to join Tottenham despite Premier League interest

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou successfully persuaded 17-year-old Mason Melia to join the club, despite interest from several Premier League teams. Melia signed from St Patrick’s Athletic for £1.6 million, potentially rising to £3.2 million. Melia will officially join Tottenham in January 2026 due to Brexit rules. He has made 54 senior appearances for St Pats, scoring 10 goals. Postecoglou's phone call was pivotal in Melia's decision to choose Spurs over Everton and other clubs. On transfer deadline day, Tottenham also secured Mathys Tel on loan. The club added goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and defender Kevin Danso to strengthen their squad, but a bid for Marc Guehi was rejected.
