Possible active shooter reported at Claremont McKenna College

Claremont McKenna College issued a shelter-in-place order Thursday evening due to reports of a possible active shooter on campus. The Claremont Police Department received the call around 5 p.m. and is coordinating with regional agencies. All five colleges in the Claremont consortium alerted students to avoid the area. Earlier in the day, a similar incident occurred at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, which turned out to be a false alarm. Police and SWAT teams responded to the situation, with significant activity reported on campus. Evening classes were canceled as authorities worked to secure the area.
