Portugal delays extradition of French mother accused of child abandonment

Portugal will not immediately extradite a French mother accused of abandoning her children to France. A Portuguese court partially refused a European arrest warrant, agreeing to a later handover after domestic legal proceedings are completed. The woman and her partner face charges in Portugal related to child endangerment. The children, aged four and five, were found alone on a roadside in Portugal last month. French authorities had reported them missing earlier in May.
