Portland music producer of 'Louie Louie' dies at 85
Milton “Mike” Korgan, known as Ken Chase, died at 85 on Tuesday. He was a key figure in producing the iconic song “Louie Louie,” which gained fame after being recorded by The Kingsmen in Portland. Korgan's unique recording techniques contributed to the song's distinct sound, leading to an FBI investigation over its unclear lyrics. He was also a prominent DJ at KISN radio, where he became a well-known personality. Korgan is survived by his wife, Carol, and their three children. A private burial is planned, with a memorial celebration to follow. Donations in his memory are welcomed by the Knight Cancer Institute and The Prostate Cancer Research Institute.
