Portage man faces new trial for child rape charges

Edward Wymer, 37, is set for a jury trial on July 29 in Portage County for allegedly raping two girls. He is currently serving a life sentence for similar crimes against three girls in Trumbull County. Wymer faces six counts of first-degree felony rape and six counts of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition. The charges relate to offenses against one girl aged 8 and another aged 11, occurring in 2020. Previously, Wymer was convicted in March 2021 for raping three girls aged 8 to 13. He was classified as a sexually violent predator and sentenced to two life terms without parole.
