Pori the elephant calf celebrates first birthday at Kaziranga National Park
Pori, a female elephant calf, celebrated her first birthday at Kaziranga National Park on January 11, 2025. The event included cakes and fruits, with many people and elephants present. A health check-up for the elephants was also conducted. Pori, shy and playful, stayed close to her mother, Badhoi. Other elephants, like Goda Pani, entertained guests by eating cake and playing pranks. The park is home to over 1,200 elephants, making it one of Assam's largest populations. Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is known for its diverse wildlife, including the greater one-horned rhinoceros. The park has seen a significant turnaround in poaching and tourism, thanks to effective conservation measures.
