Police officer arrested for allegedly extorting ₹32 lakh from businessman in Saran

A police officer in Saran district, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, was arrested for allegedly extorting ₹32 lakh from a businessman. The officer claimed the businessman was carrying illegal liquor and took the money under threat. The businessman, Rohan Kumar, reported the incident to the police. An investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to the recovery of the cash from a home guard driver's room, who is now wanted. Departmental proceedings against the arrested officer have begun. The home guard driver remains at large.
