Police charge jail officials for granting privileges to businessman in Kerala
Police have filed charges against senior jail officials for giving special privileges to businessman Boby Chemmannur while he was in Kakkanad district jail last month. The officials include the Jail Deputy Inspector General and the Jail Superintendent. The FIR alleges that the officials met Chemmannur and facilitated a cash transaction of ₹200, violating jail rules. There was no record of this meeting in the prison's entry register. Both officials have been suspended pending an investigation. They are accused of providing preferential treatment to Chemmannur, who was arrested for making objectionable remarks against a woman actor.
