PM Modi Urges Auto Industry to Drive Bold Path to Viksit Bharat by 2047

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged India's automobile industry on Thursday to pursue innovation and chart a bold pathway towards the Viksit Bharat vision by 2047, according to a message read at the SIAM Annual Convention 2026. Modi stated that recent free trade agreements provide greater access to international markets, positioning the sector to expand its global presence. He noted that economic growth is rising mobility demand, while infrastructure expansion and better logistics are reducing costs and boosting manufacturing competitiveness. The Prime Minister highlighted progress towards sustainable mobility, citing charging infrastructure expansion for electric vehicles. He credited government reforms, including the PLI scheme and Make in India, for strengthening the industry's manufacturing capabilities.
