PM Modi to launch Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav to promote northeastern culture and economy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the ‘Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav 2024’ on December 6. This three-day festival at Bharat Mandapam will highlight the culture and economy of the eight northeastern States, promoting their textile and artisanal industries. The event aims to create business opportunities for local artisans and attract investors in textiles, handicrafts, agriculture, and tourism. Five task forces have been established to enhance the economic potential of farmers and artisans in the region. A fashion show will feature traditional textiles, and daily cultural performances will showcase local dances. The government is also focusing on improving infrastructure and financial services in the northeast to support growth.
