Players unlock the Guardian Tree by completing Alice's Sorrow quest in The Sims 4

In The Sims 4, players can start the "Alice’s Sorrow" quest by locating the Guardian Tree in the Mourningvale neighborhood of Ravenwood. The tree is marked by its blue and green luminescence, and players will find the ghost of Alice nearby. To complete the quest, players must find Alice's four children: Deimos in a crypt, Freddy at a playground, Ann on an island in the Whispering Glen, and Edith near the Well of Longing and Regret. After gathering this information, players return to Alice at the Guardian Tree. Upon completion, Alice's spirit is relieved, granting players access to the Guardian Tree. This allows Sims to refill their needs, scavenge for collectibles, and use Tarot cards, enhancing gameplay in the Life and Death expansion.
