Plainfield man dies after being hit by van on Route 22 in Branchburg

A 48-year-old man from Plainfield died after being struck by a van on Route 22 in Branchburg Township around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was found in the median and later died at the hospital. The van's driver and passenger, both from Whitehouse Station, reported that the man was walking in the middle of the highway in dark clothing. They were unharmed and did not seek medical attention. Authorities are investigating the incident, but no charges have been filed. The investigation is being conducted by the Branchburg Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
