Pixel phones hit with mic and sound glitches after Android 17 beta update

Google's Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 update is causing microphone and sound glitches on Pixel devices, including broken mic access, missing audio, and Bluetooth playback issues. The problems follow a separate audio framework fix in QPR1 Beta 8. Users report apps falsely claiming the microphone is in use, unreliable playback in apps like X and Google Photos, audio dropping after calls, and Gboard voice transcription failures. Some Pixel 10 Pro owners also cite disappearing notification tones, muted music, and erratic Bluetooth audio, with reboots only temporarily resolving issues. The bugs affect devices like the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel Buds, and Android Auto. One user found switching the default assistant away from Gemini and back helped, but no universal fix exists. Google is expected to address these regressions in a future interim patch.
