Pit bulls killed elderly woman after cocaine exposure
Two pit bulls attacked and killed 73-year-old Jo Ann Echelbarger while she was gardening in Ohio. Their owner, Adam Withers, admitted to exposing the dogs to cocaine before the incident. The dogs had a history of violence and had previously escaped. After the attack, police shot and killed both dogs. Withers and his mother were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in November. Echelbarger's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against them, the county dog warden, and the condominium association. The lawsuit claims that authorities ignored warning signs about the dogs' behavior. The condominium association had previously ordered the dogs' removal due to concerns about their treatment and safety. Echelbarger's family is seeking $25,000 in damages.
