Piran Ditta Khan, who murdered PC Sharon Beshenivsky in Yorkshire, died from lung cancer complications in prison

Piran Ditta Khan, convicted of murdering PC Sharon Beshenivsky, died in prison from lung cancer complications. Khan, who evaded capture for nearly 15 years after the 2005 robbery, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in June 2024 and died in February 2025. The inquest heard his death was due to bronchial pneumonia caused by cancer spreading to his brain, following a life sentence with a 40-year minimum term.
