Philippines forms Chief Information Officer Council to enhance government digitalization efforts
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has established the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council to enhance digitalization efforts in government. This council, mandated by law, includes CIOs from national agencies, with the DICT chief as chair. Previously, the CIO Council was not convened since the DICT's formation in 2016. The new council aims to improve collaboration among agencies and streamline government ICT initiatives, addressing challenges like inconsistent data formats. Key initiatives include standardizing data gathering across agencies and sharing backup data centers to reduce costs. This approach is expected to optimize resources and improve public interactions with government services.
