Philippines and Gulf states add medical centres for migrant worker screening

Philippines and Gulf nations are expanding the Wafid programme, increasing accredited medical centres for pre-departure health screening of Filipino migrant workers. During an August 4 meeting at the Department of Migrant Workers, Gulf Health Council officials discussed expanding the Wafid programme. Currently 24 accredited centres operate in the Philippines; more are planned to improve access. The Wafid platform manages pre-departure medical examinations for GCC-bound workers in 21 countries. Officials said accredited checks uphold quality standards, transparency, and uniform fees, supporting Filipino worker welfare.
