PGI resumes assistant professor interviews despite calls for postponement

The interview process for assistant professors at PGI resumed on January 9, despite objections from the PGI SC/ST Employees Welfare Association and MP Chandra Shekar. They demand a postponement until concerns about reservation policies are resolved. In October, the National Commission for Minorities halted recruitment for 124 assistant professor positions due to irregularities in the reservation system. An inquiry by the Union ministry of health found no violations, allowing PGI to proceed with interviews. Shekar has requested a delay until an action taken report is submitted to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. The parliamentary committee has asked PGI and the ministry to review the issues and report by January 23.
