Peter Engel, producer of iconic shows, has died

Peter Engel, the executive producer of "Saved by the Bell" and "Last Comic Standing," died at his home in Santa Monica at age 88. His family confirmed his passing but did not disclose a cause of death. Engel produced over 1,000 hours of television during his 40-year career, primarily for NBC. He was instrumental in creating and reviving "Saved by the Bell," which began as "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" before becoming a Saturday morning hit. He also produced the 2020 reboot of "Saved by the Bell" and was involved in various other series. Engel is survived by his three children and a grandchild.
