Pesaro honors migrant victims, urges guaranteed rescue at sea

ilrestodelcarlino.it (Italian) —

A wreath-laying ceremony in Pesaro marked the 13th National Day of Remembrance for victims of immigration, honoring the 368 people who died in the 2013 Lampedusa shipwreck and all migrants lost at sea. Local official Camilla Murgia stressed that welcoming migrants is a right enshrined in constitutional principles and EU directives, calling for constant solidarity with those fleeing war, persecution, and poverty. The event also launched an eight-point "Appeal of the Territorial Network of Associations" focused on human rights, rescue at sea, widespread reception, and social justice, open to public adherence and supported by local institutions and NGOs.
