Personal AI in Wearables Goes Mainstream, Global Survey Finds

spectrum.ieee.org —

A Qualcomm-commissioned survey of over 12,000 people across six countries finds consumer demand for personal AI in wearable devices has gone mainstream, with 70 percent expressing strong interest in AI assistants that manage devices and tasks via voice. The report shows 60 percent of wearable owners use AI at least weekly, and consumers prefer connected ecosystems over single devices, where a personal AI agent coordinates actions across smartwatches, glasses, and earbuds. Purchase drivers vary by device, such as audio quality for earbuds and display for smartwatches. Trust remains a key barrier, as nearly 60 percent of respondents want privacy controls over data from wearables, especially for voice, health, and location. The report highlights that established platforms like Snapdragon increase adoption interest, and manufacturers have a clear opportunity to build on these foundations.
