Patrick Stewart shares childhood struggles with domestic violence in new documentary

Patrick Stewart, 84, shared his childhood experiences of domestic violence in a new ITV documentary, “Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors.” He described the silence surrounding abuse and the shame he felt growing up in a violent home. Stewart recounted how he and his brother would intervene during their father's attacks on their mother. They learned to anticipate the violence and often rushed in to protect her. He also recalled a neighbor who bravely confronted his father during an outburst. The documentary aims to give a voice to domestic abuse survivors, a cause Stewart supports. He highlighted the impact of his upbringing, stating it was humiliating to come from such a background.
