Party City stores in Canada to stay open despite U.S. closures

Party City stores in Canada will remain open despite the closure of all U.S. locations. The Canadian operations are separate from the U.S. parent company, which is shutting down due to financial difficulties. Party City Holdco CEO Barry Litwin informed U.S. staff that they would not receive severance pay as the company goes out of business. The U.S. chain faced significant debt, totaling around $800 million. Canadian Tire Corporation confirmed that Party City Canada continues to operate both online and in-store. As of September, there were 69 Party City locations across eight provinces in Canada.
