Parliament suspends plenary sessions during final presidential election campaign week

Parliament will not hold plenary sessions during the final week of the presidential election campaign. The first presidential election round is scheduled for January 18, 2026. This decision was made by consensus by the conference of leaders. Parliamentary committees will continue to meet during that week. The first debate with the Prime Minister in 2026 is set for January 8. The parliament will also address petitions and has upcoming elections for positions in the Constitutional Court, Council of State, and Ombudsman, with candidacies due by December 12.
