Palestinian developer announces new game exploring 1948 Nakba and its impact on women
Palestinian developer Rasheed Abueideh has announced a new game, "Dreams On A Pillow," which combines stealth-adventure and interactive documentary elements. Set during the 1948 Nakba, it follows a woman coping with the loss of her baby while fleeing violence. The game features Omm, who navigates through sites of historical atrocities. Players experience her trauma through gameplay mechanics that involve her pillow, symbolizing her loss. The game also includes documentary segments that provide context about pre-Zionist Palestine. Abueideh is crowdfunding the project on LaunchGood, citing difficulties in securing traditional publishing due to the sensitive nature of the subject. This announcement comes amid ongoing conflict in Gaza, linking past and present struggles for Palestinian rights.
