Palaio Faliro sprays for West Nile virus after case detected

A case of West Nile virus was recorded in Palaio Faliro, prompting the municipality to activate its health protocol and conduct emergency spraying. The spraying will take place today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 14:00. A special trap for adult mosquitoes was installed by the Regional Health Directorate and will remain for 24 hours for entomological surveillance. Spraying will occur in the wider Zaimi Street area within a 300-meter radius. Residents are advised to stay indoors during spraying and for three hours after, keep pets inside, and cover or move children's toys and garden furniture. The municipality runs an annual mosquito control program including larvicide applications and trap installations.
