Pakistan and China strengthen commitment to CPEC 2.0 development
Pakistan and China have committed to enhancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, focusing on industrialization, clean energy, and agriculture. This agreement was made during the 5th meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group in Beijing. The two countries reviewed progress since their last meeting in January 2024 and expressed satisfaction with their bilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of CPEC in regional connectivity and agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields. China's ambassador to Pakistan noted ongoing strategic cooperation, highlighting the year-round operation of Khunjerab Pass and the start of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5, which is expected to create many jobs.
