Oxford University scientists identified 618 proteins in blood linked to 19 cancers, detecting 107 proteins up to seven years before diagnosis. Proteomics helped analyze 1,463 proteins in blood samples from 44,000 people, finding 182 proteins three years pre-diagnosis. Genetic data from 300,000 cases revealed 40 proteins influencing cancer risk. Further research is needed to understand protein roles and develop prevention strategies. Cancer Research UK funded the study.
