OVO Energy customers can save £338 with new zero standing charge tariffs

OVO Energy customers can save up to £338 annually after the removal of a daily standing charge. New regulations from Ofgem require energy suppliers to offer zero standing charge tariffs, benefiting low-energy users by reducing fixed costs on their bills. Starting January 1, average standing charges will slightly decrease to 60.7p per day for electricity and 31.65p for gas. The new tariffs aim to provide more options for households, especially those that use less energy, while maintaining existing tariffs for higher energy users. Ofgem plans to implement these changes by winter 2025/26, following a consultation early next year. The goal is to give consumers more choices without disadvantaging any group, particularly those with higher energy needs.
