Original Dragon Ball chapter auctioned for over $25,000

A copy of the 51st issue of Shonen Jump, featuring the original Dragon Ball manga chapter, sold for over $25,000 at auction on March 7, 2025. The starting bid was 500,000 Yen, but the final price reached 3.8 million Yen. This issue, in mint condition, was highly sought after due to the rarity of well-preserved copies. When Dragon Ball first launched in 1984, the magazine sold for just over $1. Despite the passing of creator Akira Toriyama in 2024, the Dragon Ball franchise continues with new content, including the anime Dragon Ball Daima, which premiered in October 2024.
