Organs harvested in Tiruchi hospital benefit six patients in need

Surgeons at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi harvested organs from a brain-dead patient, benefiting six individuals. The patient, a 28-year-old man, was declared brain-dead after a severe head injury. The family consented to organ donation, leading to the successful harvesting of the liver, kidneys, eyes, and skin tissue. This marked the hospital's 21st organ donation operation. One kidney was transplanted to a 40-year-old patient who had been on dialysis for three years. The other kidney, liver, and skin tissue were allocated to patients at various hospitals in the region.
