Organizers of Diljit Dosanjh concert face fine for noise violations in Chandigarh

Organizers of Diljit Dosanjh's concert on December 14 face a potential fine of up to Rs 15 lakh for exceeding noise limits. The concert's noise levels reached between 76.1 and 93.1 decibels, surpassing the 75-decibel limit set by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate has reported the violation to the Environment Department, which will issue a notice to the organizers for a hearing before finalizing the penalty. This action follows the Environment Protection Act's requirements. Additionally, similar penalties are being considered for the organizers of AP Dhillon's concert on December 21, where noise levels also exceeded permissible limits.
