Opposition lawmakers block Public Television chairman from budget review in Taiwan's legislature

Public Television Service chairman Hu Yuan-hui was repeatedly blocked from a legislative committee meeting by opposition lawmakers. They cited a revised Public Television Act preventing his reappointment. The committee was reviewing the Ministry of Culture's budget. Minister Lee Yung defended Hu, emphasizing media independence.
