OpenAI launches education-focused ChatGPT at California State University for 500,000 users
OpenAI announced it will launch an education-specific version of its chatbot at California State University, serving about 500,000 students and faculty. This rollout aims to enhance academic support and administrative tasks across 23 campuses. The initiative follows OpenAI's efforts to integrate ChatGPT into classrooms since 2023, despite earlier concerns about cheating. Other universities, including Wharton and the University of Texas, have already adopted ChatGPT Enterprise. Rival Alphabet is also expanding in education, with a $120 million fund for AI programs and plans to introduce its GenAI chatbot to students.
