Ontario plans to build first treatment centres for first responders' mental health in Toronto and Caledon
Ontario is set to build Canada’s first dedicated treatment centres for first responders with post-traumatic stress injuries in Toronto and Caledon. This initiative aims to improve mental health support for those affected by work-related trauma. The provincial government announced additional funding for Runnymede Healthcare Centre’s new facilities, building on a previous investment of $10.7 million. The centres will provide care for 1,500 workers and accommodate 41,700 visits annually. Services will include mental health assessments, rehabilitation, and crisis support. The Toronto facility will focus on outpatient therapy, while the Caledon centre will offer 40 residential beds for comprehensive treatment.
