Oleh Luzhnyi appointed head coach of Ukraine's U19 national team
Oleh Luzhnyi has been officially appointed as the head coach of Ukraine's U19 national team. The 57-year-old former footballer will lead the team starting this autumn, with the first training camp scheduled for September ahead of a tournament in Spain. Luzhnyi replaces Dmytro Mykhailenko, who has moved to coach the U21 squad. The new coach stated that the primary task for youth team coaches is preparing players for the senior national team, emphasizing the importance of developing young footballers for international competition. Luzhnyi will combine his new role with his position as head of the UAF Professional Football Committee, a post he has held since January 2024. This marks his first head coaching role since leading Tavriya in the 2012/13 season.
