Officials moved orphaned calf to Kozhikamuthi camp

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

An orphaned one-month-old elephant calf was moved to the Kozhikamuthi elephant camp after failed attempts to reunite it with its herd. Forest officials found the calf alone and provided medical care, attempting to return it to its herd five times, but the herd rejected it each time. The calf's young age and the summer heat prompted the decision to move it. The calf will now be cared for by experienced mahouts at the camp, located in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, following an order from the Chief Wildlife Warden.
