OCBC's AI avatars Wendy and Wayne: The humans behind the virtual wealth assistants

straitstimes.com

OCBC Bank has launched AI avatars Wendy and Wayne, created from employees Terissa Chang and Ethan Peh, to provide 24/7 portfolio insights and client support through Southeast Asia's first AI-native mobile banking app. Chang and Peh, both former Singapore Airlines cabin crew, were selected from 20 to 30 candidates for their warm dispositions. The avatars underwent intensive production, including green screen filming, with early user feedback described as encouraging by the bank. The avatars are not licensed to give financial advice, and customers are directed to human advisers for investment guidance. If Chang or Peh leave, their avatars will be removed, and employees can withdraw consent at any time.
