An Oakland man, Maurice Herron, was arrested for illegal gun possession after his ankle monitor placed him at the scene of a recent homicide. He was not charged with murder. Herron, 27, was a suspect in the April 19th shooting death of Roosevelt Jones, but was instead charged with a firearms offense. The victim of the attempted robbery, Jones, was killed in self-defense. Herron's girlfriend was allegedly driving the robbers' car. Herron was already on probation for a prior burglary case and had been arrested twice earlier this year for gun and burglary tool possession.
