Nvidia RTX 5090 tested in handheld gaming setup with impressive 4K performance
A new setup using the Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card has been tested in a handheld gaming PC. The RTX 5090 was connected via an Oculink cable to a GPD Win Max 2, achieving impressive performance in demanding games at 4K resolution. The handheld setup delivered frame rates significantly higher than the device's built-in graphics, outperforming the Radeon 780M by four to twelve times. However, it was slower than setups using high-end desktop CPUs, running 7 to 47 percent slower than the RTX 5090 in a desktop configuration. Despite its potential, Oculink technology has limitations, including non-hot-swappable connections and compatibility issues. Currently, few devices support Oculink, with most manufacturers opting for USB4 instead.
